Can an NRI buy property in India? ▾
Yes. NRIs and OCIs can freely buy residential and commercial property in India. The only restriction is on agricultural land, farmhouses, and plantation property.
How are payments made? ▾
Payments must be made through banking channels using NRE, NRO, or FCNR accounts, in Indian rupees.
Do I need to be in India to complete the purchase? ▾
No. You can appoint a trusted Power of Attorney. We assist with drafting, attestation, and verification.
Can I repatriate the sale proceeds later? ▾
Yes, subject to RBI limits. Proceeds from up to two residential properties can generally be repatriated.
